Trying to reach your dream is like trying to get a precious stone that was found shining under a transparent, yet deep pool.
It might have been just an accident on a day, when you, as usual, had swum to the other side of the pool, just as in to bask under the serene sun, lying on your back, on top of a wide orange stone, facing the perfect blue sky.
But that day, as you were just sitting on the rock, staring at the depths of those transparent waters, thinking about its profoundness when suddenly, you saw a glitter in the plunge pool- as if a star had just descended down to the pool!
At first, you thought it was just a trick of light but it was not. And as you got down from the big orange rock, swam near to the plunge pool and looked down holding onto the slippery rocks, you saw it for the first time- a sparkling green stone that lay at the deepest end of the transparent pool, a depth none have achieved.
But even then, suddenly you have this urge to possess it- not just because it seemed precious, but because you somehow feel that this particular stone symbolizes everything that you had always wanted, like your dream. And since you have an intense craving for it, you let go of the slippery rock, fill your lungs with immense air with a deep breath and starts diving down towards the stone, hoping you would get it in no time.
And that moment marks the beginning of your real life- a life which is never easy.
But as you go down towards the stone, you start to realize your demons- Weaknesses. It would be the heart that freaks out first, forcing you to retreat to the surface grasping for breath.
You might try diving again for a dozen times that day, but that’s it, you won’t get it for sure- even on your 12th dive.
Dejected you walk back, hoping you would get it the next day.
And it’s the ego that comes into play then, motivating you to come every day and dive down for it, until the day you start doubting your beliefs.
But do not be disheartened at those moments, before the belief dies out completely, nature would bring in something, put something inspirational in front of you. Mine was a spider, whose web was being continuously destroyed during each of my dive. It was a daily affair!
But irrespective of me destroying the net in the evening, by afternoon the next day the web would have been rebuilt!
And its the attitude of the spider that got me- irrespective of my actions, the spider does not feel dejected on each of this fall because it is confident that it could rebuild a new one in no time. Moreover, it knew that it can’t survive for its life with just one net; it will have to weave in many in its lifetime. And he was doing it effortlessly because he knows that he can build a new one – that he was born for it.
And the day you feel like the spider, things would change. You would happily surrender everything for it; in my case, I had surrendered it all- my fear, body, mind; even life, to the serene waters.
Once you have surrendered everything, you can see how easily you could control your emotions and pacify your heartbeats. Even when the piercing pain in your ears would start doubling with depths, you will not loose focus.
Such a pure moment of a successful dive would begin when you take a deep breath with a smiling face, dive into the depths of yourself, retaining the air for a worrying length of time. You would push yourself more into the depths by regulating it in your mouths, then to the ears until you reach the shiny stone.
A moment when the squeezing pressure suddenly merges into you, forcing the ‘I’ out of the equation; and you become part of the big blue water.
And then you would see how easily the precious stone would be in your clutches!
But that’s just the beginning- the first step of a 1000 mile journey!
